Decks and Patio Covers expertly built

650SF Redwood deck with sunblocking patio cover and garden steps

Not your average Deck: 650 square feet of Redwood decking in a sunburst pattern. A masterpiece of geometry and craftsmanship, this deck combines both woodworking and masonry aspects to form a single beautiful entertaining and living space.

In addition to enhancing the garden it meets the client's requirement of not obstructing the picture window.

We specially engineered the 18 foot span with no center vertical supports to frame the client's bird-watching view.

6x2 Redwood decking was used for long life and ease of maintenance. The carrying construction of the deck is built from pressure treated 2x6 joists with proper seating and blocking for virtually no bounce.

Cut stone skirting with flag stone steps add interest and eliminates the typical rot problems associated with wooden skirts.  It also prevents varmints and other animals from "moving in" under the deck.

Accurate spacing and exposed board ends allow the wood to dry and prevent rot from the under side.

Patio cover and deck add an ideal outdoor living space
Louvered design of patio cover blocks the sun but lets the wind penetrate

Solid mortise and tenon joinery and sturdy diagonal supports give the carrying construction rigidity and massive laminated 12" cross members ensure compliance with the international building code.

The spaced 2x4 roof slats are arranged at an angle that allows the wind to penetrate but block the direct sunlight. The sunburst design mimics the pattern on the deck and creates a blocking angle that adjusts to the sun's path across the sky throughout the day.

Beauty and functionality combined to create a  living space for a true nature lover.
